Grade 7 - B'nai Mitzvah Year - B'nai TELEM

Students in grade 7 focus on two main area of study: Jewish Life Cycle and Mitzvot. Students have the opportunity to explore the values and rituals of the Jewish Life Cycle through a series of guests and fieldtrips. As students prepare to celebrate their own B’nai Mitzvah they explore what it means to be a “child of the commandments”. Through the B’nai TELEM curriculum, students learn about social justice issues of concern in our communities and how Jewish values and wisdom address these important issues. Students participate in 6 direct service experiences relating to the issues studied. This hands-on approach is in alignment with Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel’s contention of the importance of “praying with your feet.”
